Waterville Golf Links: It’s restoration story

Waterville Golf Links in  County Kerry is truly an outstanding golf course and one that I have enjoyed playing many times. In the last 10 years it has undergone a restoration that has resulted in a much better playing performance.

I was delighted when I came across “the story” of the restoration by Nick Park of The R&A.

In 1996, the current Links Superintendent, Mike Murphy, arrived. A good golfer himself, he has overseen a remarkable transformation of the golf course. Murphy has restored true links performance. And he did it for the number one reason: to ensure the best possible golfing challenge, for as much of the year as possible.

Of course, if you are planning a golf vacation to Ireland you can play Waterville as part of our “Classic South West Golf Trip“.

You can read the full story by Nick here.
